Our Standards & Sources
Moodfig is a free set of self-tracking and emotional self-check tools. This page explains what we build, the public scales we reference, how we review our content, and where the limits are.
What Moodfig is
Moodfig helps you record and reflect on your own mood, stress, and daily patterns. Every tool runs in your browser, is free, and requires no sign-up. Our goal is self-awareness and a private record you can keep or bring to a professional — not medical evaluation.
The scales we reference
Where a tool is adapted from a published questionnaire, we name the original instrument and its authors. These are widely used in research and clinics. Listing them is for transparency; Moodfig is not affiliated with the authors or publishers.

- PHQ-9 — Mood & interest (9 items) — Kroenke et al., 2001
- PSS-10 — Perceived Stress (10 items) — Cohen et al., 1983

How we build and review content
Source the public scale
Each tool is an adaptation of a published, peer-reviewed, or publicly documented questionnaire. We name the original instrument and its authors on every tool page.
Adapt for self-tracking
We reframe clinical items into everyday language focused on frequency and self-observation. We do not add, remove, or reinterpret scoring in a way that implies a diagnosis.
Editorial review
Content is reviewed for accuracy, neutral tone, and YMYL compliance — no diagnosis, treatment, cure, or symptom-relief claims. We link to authoritative sources rather than assert medical facts.
Maintain & update
We revisit scales and links periodically and correct errors. Dates of last review are noted where relevant.
Our editorial principles
- No diagnosis. Tools do not screen for or identify any condition.
- No treatment claims. We never claim to treat, cure, or relieve symptoms.
- Plain language. We describe feelings and frequency, not clinical labels.
- Cite, don’t assert. Health claims link to authoritative sources (NIMH, SAMHSA, WHO, MedlinePlus).
- Privacy by design. Calculations run locally; responses are not stored on our servers.
Who writes and reviews
Content is produced and reviewed by the Moodfig editorial team, which includes writers trained in plain-language health communication and an advisor with a graduate background in clinical psychology. Final responsibility for clinical framing rests with a licensed reviewer; however, Moodfig is an independent educational publisher and is not a healthcare provider.
Known limitations
Self-checks are simplified adaptations and may not capture your full situation. A single score is a snapshot, not a trend. Results can be affected by mood on the day, understanding of the questions, and honest answering. They should never replace a conversation with a qualified professional.
